Global oil and gas firm, TechnipFMC, offers energy sector clients full project life-cycle services. To keep up with demand, it needed to modernize and enhance its centralized business system.

Complex software system

TechnipFMC’s clients utilize FuelFACS – both a local facility business system and a centralized business system – throughout their refined petroleum and lubricant terminals to enable end-to-end automation of operations and processes. With FuelFACS, all facets of terminal operations, from terminal access and entry to product movement, production of bills of ladings, product inventory management, and ERP integration are taken care of.

Re-engineering needs

FuelFACS, first launched in the early 2000s, needed an overhaul to boost its performance and scalability while reducing the costs associated with maintenance and support. Furthermore, TechnipFMC needed to make a shift from facilitating its clients’ expensive on-premise customizations and upgrades to a more sustainable, cost-effective approach.

With decades of software modernization and cloud strategy consulting under our belt, we instigated a comprehensive reverse-engineering project to transform TechnipFMC’s centralized business system – replicating the app’s current mechanics, controls, and business logic.
Kick-off
Beginning with a two-week client visit, our experts gathered system artifacts and clarified TechnipFMC’s architecture vision ahead of kicking-off development.
Migration
To remove the need to host the FuelFACS web app on the client’s side, we migrated it to Azure, which mitigated any performance issues and enabled centralized update generation and customization.
Transition to Agile
ELEKS’ expertise in Agile principles was one of the key advantages for TechnipFMC, enabling its development and product management team to safely and gradually transition to Agile principles. In doing so, the client was able to boost customer engagement and deliver the product to market faster.
